Name changes

Started by: PeterP (11319)

Over the last few years names though spelt the same have been pronounced different.
We started with Nestle which most people said Nestles but then was Nest lay.
Then there was Bon Marche again mast people said Bon marsh or Bon March which become Bon marshhay.
Next came Go compere which became Go (dot) Compere.
Skoda was next again was SCoda but now Skouda
Last but not least Hyundai which was High un day which now is Unday
Does any one know of any more name changes

Peter…..
Perhaps the names have not changed, only the way the British pronounced them, they are all, apart from Go.Compare foreign and how they are pronounced now is the correct way.

Kiev (as in the Great Gate of Kiev) is now referred to as "Keev" and they've changed the gate's name to Golden Gate!

That's because we had been using the Russian pronunciation, which has fallen out of favour and some want to now use the Ukrainian pronunciation instead.
